Creation is GOD's first missionary

It was a sunny day after some rain past few day, and the weather turn to become more warm then before. I suddenly have this thought of going to the beach which I had longing to go before this, and since my class is start at 6pm evening, I should able to walk all the way from the beach back to the University before evening. Actually, I donwan to waste my time the whole noon by just watching movie or surfing internet directionless also.
After taking a light lunch, I prepare myself to go to Willow beach. Take a deep breath at the fresh air, with some salty taste, it make me feel that I am back to Langkawi, but for sure Langkawi beach is much more better than here. Take a walk along the long beach, seeing all the people company by their dogs beside the beach, enjoying the beauty of art work of the LordWalk until the end of beach, I went along the hill up to the Upland park, sitting on the cliff , a sharp corner which divide the Oak Bay and Cadbora Bay, from here I can see clearly the whole beach, someone kayaking, and some rafting. Rest for a while at the chair, amazed with all the scene in front of my eyes.
It was only 230pm by the time, way too early for my to get back to school. So I decide to take a slow walk along the Beach Drive and Cadboro street to the Cadboro Gyro Park, "City of Garden" is the name given to Victoria, Victoria is more than a garden if you take the walk along Beach Drive. An hour of walk, had grant me to imagine myself immerse totally in the beauty of nature, the flower, the leaf, the tree, the acorn and pine corn, the grass ,all the plant is greeting me " Good day, Leon".
All the nature make me reflect of what I had read recently on the book " In the grip of Grace" which I just borrow from the church library. The Psalmist wrote: " The heaven tell the glory of God, and the skies annouce what his hands have made. Day after day they tell their story, night after night they tell it again. They have no seech or words; they have no voice to be heard. But their message goes through all the world; their words go everywhere on earth." (Ps 19: 1-4) There is no excuse for us to denied God, as HE had revealed himself to us through his creation. Hundreds of years ago, the great theologist Tertulian stated: It was not the pen of Moses that initiated the knowledge of the Creator....the vast mojority of mankind, though they never heard the name of Moses, nor the God of Moses....Nature is the teacher; the soul is the pupil....One flower of the hedgerow....one shell from any sea.....will they speak to you the mean Creator? ....If I offer you a rose, you will not scorn its Creator.
Creation is God's first missionary. They are there for those who never held a Bible or heard a scripture, they are there before someone put the God's Word in their tongue. Paul in Roman book say, the human heart can know God through the handiwork of nature. However, the problem is not that God haven't spoke, but is the human never listen. Human trade the Creator with the creation, they trade the glory of heaven with the desire of earth.....
This message come to me as I sit down at the Gyro Park, facing the salty cold wind from the sea, listen to the song of the birds, reading this book. The words suddenly become to close to me, and intimate with me, each word reflect me of all the wonder of nature I had just gone through. I give thanks to the wonder of His handiwork, the grace that He had pour upon my life.

Wonderful Picnic and weekend gathering

on the past Saturday, we previously planning to rent a car and go to mount Washington together, however due to some conflict and some new information we get, we decide to postpone this snow skiing to 6 Feb which in organize by the school, then this will be much more cheaper also.
then in a sudden decision, i suggest all of us to go to Salt Spring Island, which i saw the flier from the hostel, and everyone agree. What impress me is, the amount of people suddenly increase from about 10 to about 20. lot of new friend come in together to join this trip. However, Salt Spring Island is not as interesting as I thought, it just another park on the island. Heard from the people there, It is actually a famous place for camping during the summer, but in the winter is actually nothing much to see. and what the make me feel not worth, is the taxi we took for only 10 minute cost each of us CAD$7...tht is way too expensive...and wht that make me feel worth, is the gathering of a bunch of exchange student come to an island and having the picnic, the fellowship and the conversation among each other. Thanks to the 4 NTU ppl and Ja and Jane and Sandy that prepare all the sandwich and snack....
due to the lack of fun, Sandy actually have a mind to invite everyone to her house and have a BBQ in the night. Everyone was having too much fun on the BBQ night, although is only me and Sandy that do the BBQ, but other also help to do many preparation and fried. we play guitar hero, play twister together.....Twister is a new game to me, bt it is really very fun. all the player are tie together...haha....this gv me a new idea of having this kind of game for a ice breaking for nex time camp....it is simple but fun....even we just looking at how they play, is even more fun also...
Great JOB!!!!

Visual Data Artifact Journal

I had been joining a survey for the visual data artifact journal recently, and this can help me to earn some pocket money. What actually this survey is all about? this guy, David Sprague actually doing a survey on his paper on the effect and impact of visual data bring to normal people life. In doing this survey, each participant have to record down the visual data they observed everyday in the 2 week of observation period, and as the compensation of our time wasted, we can earn CAD$40 after we complete the task.
How ever, not everyday in our life we will saw the visual data. What actually is visual data then? is actually just any visual or graphic with shape, color, size that can help you to understand a thing such as chart, bar, node link diargram, basically anything that after remove the word and still given you some information.
well, this is something interesting. and thereforem I have to bring my camera everytime, so when ever I saw a visual data I can capture down the picture.

但很快又忘了去珍惜;
转一个头又忘了;

an invitation....and my pork chop

Being invited by the 4 NTU student's land lady, Sandy to their place for dinner, I am glad with it.
well, although is going on invitation, we still decide to cook something instead of just going to eat. after their discussion, they decide to cook pork chop, coz i told them once that i know how to cook it haha..
Me and yanni meet 4 of them, Mark, Cherry, Rachel and Joelle  at the fairway market near the Shelbourn Mckenzi, to buy those stuff needed to cook later. We get some seasoned Pork chop, packet eastern oriental pork chop sauce, big onion and tomato for the pork chop, or we call eat Pai Gu Wang in chinese; mushroon and vege to make a vege cook with mushroon, and one packet of red bean to cook red bean soup.
this is my 1st attempt to cook pork chop, but I still remember I c how my mum cook it last time. and base on my own knowledge, I just cook it out. This is how i cook it, fried the pork 1st until it is yellowish on both side and make sure the meat is already done. for the sauce, 1st fired the garlic and onion until it get smell, then put in the whole onion slice and cook until it become yellow, then pour the sauce that alrd dilute with water. cook a while until the sauce get more thick, then put in the pork and the tomato cube, then keep on cook awhile until the tomato are all melt and mix well with the sauce...Guest what, the taste was Good !!....even Sandy said she like it.... hhaha....I am impress oso...
for the Vege with mushroom, that is very easy. just like how we cook the normal vege. fried the garlic with oil, then add in the vege....cook a while until it soft then put in the mushroom slice that alrd soften in water, then add in the garlic slice and onion slice a bit....then fried a while and then mix with some oyster sauce, soya sauce, and sesame oil, and we are done....so easy....
Yanni do the red bean soup, and it is not bad oso...although we just using the normal sugar...since we cant get a honey or wintermelon sugar rock in fairway....
Sandy also make some good food for us as well. she bough 16 off chicken breast , and bake it with the mix flour...which they call these shake and bake chicken....she make us 2 diff flavour..teriyaki and original....the flour was alrd contain all the ingredient inside include butter or cube oil....juz put the chicken inside the bag and shake, the whole chicken will be cover byt he flour, and then juz put into the oven to bake in 400 celcius for 30 min...damm convenient and delicious...
it was a very full night..after dinner we rest a while and play mahjong.....then going back to the hostel.....haha....I actually love to just sit at the sofa to watch TV....it felt like in home, can bcm so lazy and just sitting there to let the time fly over....hhaa...

Chinese Christian Fellowship

也透过这些游戏,我认识了所有人:Hervey, Sarah, Rocksand, Eric, Helda, Sandy, Jane, Season, Will, Wilson.

Why It is Not Possible to Substitute Allah with Tuhan in Bible Translation

Why It is Not Possible to Substitute Allah with Tuhan in Bible Translation by Dr Ng Kam Weng

Muslims in other parts of the world (Arabs, Persians, North Africans, Pakistanis and Indonesians) have no objection and are not worried about getting confused when Christians use the word Allah. In contrast, some Malaysian Muslims claim to be confused; a strange phenomenon indeed.  This observation lends credence to the suggestion that the Allah issue is an artificial Malay issue and not a genuine Muslim issue. The truth is that the current orchestrated protests against the recent High Court decision to allow the Catholic Herald (and Christians) to use the word Allah must be seen as cynical manipulations by Malay politicians to gain votes from their community.

I am more interested in going beyond these political maneuvers. Politicians (including government bureaucrats) are happy just to stay at the level of vague suggestions since they have no competence nor care to address real issues of translation. In contrast, Christians must ensure their arguments for the right to use the word Allah are based on concrete evidence supported by a coherent linguistic philosophy of translation of Scripture.

One major demand from the Malay protestors is that Christians stop using the word Allah on grounds that Christians can find a simple alternative, that is, simply substitute the word Allah with the word Tuhan. Unfortunately, this demand only betrays the ignorance of the protestors. I would have thought that any Malay would know that the meanings of the words Allah (God) and Tuhan (Lord, Rabb) are not the same. How can they suggest that Christians simply use the word Tuhan to substitute the word Allah? To express the issue linguistically, Allah and Tuhan have different senses even though they have the same reference.

Both the terms Allah and Tuhan are used in the Malay Bible. Following the precedent set by Arab Christians, Allah is used to translate el/elohim and Tuhan(or TUHAN in caps) is used to translate Yahweh (YHWH). The two words are sometimes paired together as Yahweh-Elohim in 372 places in the Old Testament (14 times in Genesis 2-3; 4 times in Exodus;8 times in Joshua; 7 times in 2 Samuel; 22 times in Chronicles; 12 times in Psalms; 32 times in Isaiah; 16 times in Jeremiah and 210 times in Ezekiel etc.).

More importantly, the word Tuhan is also applied to Jesus Christ in the New Testament. Thus we read of the LORD Jesus as Tuhan Yesus (The word LORD was used to translate the word kurios 8400 times in the Septuagint, the Greek version of the Old Testament. It refers to human beings only 400 times and refers to God 8000 times. Of these 8000 times, 6700 are substitutes for the word YHWH). The transference of the title kurios LORD/YHWH to Jesus Christ is testimony to the belief in the deity of Christ right at the beginning of Christianity.

This simple statistical survey shows clearly that the demand by Muslim demonstrators that Christians simply substitute the word Allah with Tuhan is unreasonable since it renders many Biblical references to God and Jesus Christ incoherent. First, the substitution is incorrect since the meaning of Allah and Tuhan are different. Second, it creates an absurd situation when Christians try to translate the paired words Tuhan Allah (LORD God). Are Christians now required to call the LORD God, Tuhan Tuhan? This sounds like committing linguistic redundancy. Worse still, the repeated words Tuhan Tuhan come across to Malay readers as suggesting that Christians believe in a plurality of Lords/Gods (since the plural form in Malay is expressed by repeating the noun and setting them in apposition). Finally, Christians are unable to express the Lordship of Jesus Christ as one who is distinct from the Father and yet shares with the God of the Old Testament, the name that is above every other name – kurios /Tuhan (Philippians 2:9, cf. Isaiah 45:23). In other words, Christians are rendered unable to affirm the deity of Jesus Christ and teach the doctrine of Trinity without the foundational words that maintain the semantic relationship between the words Allah and Tuhan as they are applied distinctively in the Malay Bible.

Christians in Malaysia would do their utmost to maintain religious harmony in Malaysia. Indeed, the Christian community has made many concessions to accommodate the concerns of the Malay community. However, it cannot accept the demand that it abandons the use of the word Allah and adopts the word Tuhan as a substitute simply because some ill-informed Malays take offence at their practice –  an offence which would not have arisen if only these people set aside emotions and prejudices and examine the historical and linguistic evidence in a calm and rational manner. At the very least, Malays (or rather Muslims) should understand that believers are not at liberty to change the meaning of their Scriptures, the Word of God, to satisfy the unfounded scruples of man.

night with fun.

it my first time in Victoria to go swimming today.hehe...
Being invited by Evan, I decided to go for swimming at the Crystal Pool juz near to the hostel, around 10 min of walking distance. There isnt just a swimming pool, but others facilities such at suana room, steam bath, hot tub and gym. It cost 2 dollar per entry after 9pm.
I kind of like to swim, its let me fell relax and release most of the time. It just like you had forgotten everything but just keep on swimming to the end. I enjoy to immerse myself in the hot tub and in the suana room, it release all the tense of my muscle and body.  well, one thing need to mention is the pool gym or earobic , probably some of u nvr heard about this also. with 2 dumbell make of span, we practice aerobic in the pool following the instrcution by the instructer. and it could exercise your whole body to keep in shape. the most difficult thing is to learn to balance yourself in the water will holding the 2 big dumbell.
Hmm..one culture here which i kind of not use to it is.....almost all ppl get naked in the change room...haha....except me..they just act so common nature to be naked in the changing room and waling around without any cover....but dun get missunderstood, this is only the man changing room...haha....asia people is still shy in this kind of thing most of the time...especially chinese, probably malay oso de same...

after the swim, Evan bring me to a pub called Logon , coz there is an open mic there. and he intro some of his friend to me. Haha, his black brother, NY offer to buy me 2 beer, and Steve was getting so excited during playing the table soccer in tag team with me, and we won the game with 10-9...hahha...it is a good game, although it was my first attemp to play this game. having good time hanging around with Evan, Sher, Chris, Rianna, NY, Steve, Bob......although it was 1st time meet, Steve insist to invited me again on this sun night, and NY invite me to his house for some africa food...haha...however, i can drink with them but not smoke with them...haha...

just a simple and relaxing night....we have our pan fries after back to hostel...and I ge to bed on abt 3am...since tmr class is 630pm...hhaa

when it matters to you, it Matters!!

I'm totally satisfied my stomach today, with the curry chicken and potatoes I made myself, thank to some of the friend that give me some opinion and guidance on how to make it. And I done it, the taste was better than I imagine. hhe...here, there are some of the prove that I cook this curry all by myself.

what does it meant actually??
When I was in Malaysia, my mum had ask me for many time to learn to cook, she is definitely a great cooker. she can make out many delicious food with simple thing. from simple cook, to some more very complex food also she can made them very well. however, when i was in malaysia, i never though to learn cooking from her, nor help her during cooking, all I do is just sitting on the sofa and wait for the food to be prepared.
BUT, when I now in a far way from home, and I could not afford to eat outside like I do in USM, then cooking is start to really matter to me. and when It matter to me, I start to learn. thing being weird, when I myself start to realize that I found myself start to love cooking as well. With just simple ingredient such as garlic and onion, and some noodle or vege, chemical reaction and thing become so tasty. and now i found that, cooking isnt so difficult also, it just depend on whether you really wan to learn it o not.

This incident make me reflect of what i had heard from the sermon on the past Sunday, " When it matter to you, it matters".  our religion is just the same, no matter how much we heard from other about the goodness of believe in Jesus, or how much we tell others about the goodness of believe in Jesus, if we or other never experience it, it doesnt matter to them at all.
when people tell you about the goodness of believe in Jesus, if it doesnt matter do you, your responce may just be "So what", but when it does matter to you, you will responce with" what else, how come"...and you start to learn more from there.....

where will you go when you die?
where are you come from?
what is the purpose to live if there is no enternal life?are people born to die?
how is this world come?
Does it matter to you??
or you just responce with" So what". ? think about it......

My prayer for Malaysia's churches

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus Christ, and dear Holy Spirit,
I humbly come before you,
with a heart full of mourn and grieve for the churches and Christians in Malaysia,
when I look into the newspaper and found that people are burning the church.
Teach us work according to Your words in Romans 12,
be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer,
let us as a Malaysian Christian stand up and unite before you,
to pray for our church, country and our fellow friends.

Lord, I ask for your grace upon Your children in Malaysia,
grant our heart to be filled with Your peace and forgiveness,
comfort our grieving heart with Holy Spirit and Your word,
grant no hatred or vengeance thought in our mind,
let us learn not to overcome evil with evil,
but overcome evil with good.
let us learnt to depend on You,
do not take revenge, but leave room for Your wrath.
For You had said: It is mine to avenge; I will repay.
open our eyes to see the will’s of Yours upon this incident,
open our heart to forgive those awkward work,
lift our hand to pray, and open our mouth to say praise.
take our eyes from ourselves, and put it into You,
let us see that You are controlling and above this all.
Father, I pray also for Your protection upon the churches,
Leave us no harm and hurt,
physically , mentally and spiritually.

Lord, I pray also for your wisdom to be pour upon Malaysia,
Give the leader of Malaysia wisdom to overcome this incident,
Let all the leaders to have a peace conversation among them,
And that Your Holy Spirit work among them.
Lord, I pray that the leader have respect to each others,
to live in harmony in this country of diversity race and religion,
and I grant them to have fears of Your Holiness and Glory.
Lord, I pray also that Malaysian devote to one another in brotherly love,
To respect and honor each other above themselves,
To work together to live in harmony.

Lord, please forgive those that done awkward thing,
They have not knowing of what they had done,
and act according to their emotion and desire.
They felt no evil in the work of their hand,
and have no fears of You.
Lord, You are the sovereign GOD,
You love these insignificant human of your master piece,
yet you hate the sin within them.
Lord, I pray that you enlighten them with Your glory,
let them see the sin within them,
let them felt guilty and sorry to what they had done,
and would confess themselves to the law.

In JESUS name I pray,
AMEN!!

So I quickly went to the SUB pharmacy to ask for the walking crutch. haha...at firstm they said they only rent the walking crutch, then i told that i actually on a mission to get all the thing on the list, and i only need to borrow for an hour. then a person with more authority come and allow me to borrow with an exchange of my student card. haha... then i run all the way with the walking crutch from SUB back to classroom...

unfortunately, I'm late. i get the crutch for 2 point but late with minus 5 point. initally we have 13 point , and end up with 10 point....haih~~ however, i am the only person in class that come with this walking crutch..haha...the prof oso amazed with tht...hahaa....

this is a interesting way to get a team work together...haha...and it is fun...hahah

This tell you how far Canada's urbanization in front of Malaysia

This construction engineering drawing of the Parliment building in Victoria was draw on 18XX( I cant remember the century behind, is around 70 - 90), and this show how advance there are compare to Malaysia on tht time. Do anyone still remember how was Kuala Lumpur during the day declase independant in 1957? all the wooden building with the road in mud and puddle. This is one of the thing tht amazed me in the Muzium.

SUB and 2nd Job

Being 1st tie to Uvic for class, me and Yann Ni went to SUB to looking for some used text book, and we bought a used text book for the course Introduction to Canadian Business with only $20, which it actually cost $120 for a new book. many ppl try to come find this after the class but alrd out of stock, we are lucky to be the 1st tht bought this book. hehe..
During waiting for Yann Ni to Q up for paying the book, I was waling around and looking at the notice board. there is a notice that caught my eyes, HELPER NEEDED on 20-22 Jan.  They actually having a poster show which called Imaginus, and they need ppl to help for the opening and closing in lifting thing, and ppl to help in sales on this 3 day. We had sign up for the closing and opening, and also 2 out of 3 day of sales promoting. work for 10 hour total and earn about $130. What good about this job is that we dun nid a Social Insurance Numbern(SIN) to do this work, the cheque will directly bank into our account. We had try to apply for a temporary SIN to enable us to work in campus, and this money will enuf for me to travel survive myself and travel.
I taking only 3 course for this semester which only have 3 hour of class on mon - wed, so I'm actualy VERY very free, if not doing work also dun really have much thing to do. Will still work in Ocean Island when I'm free to earn more OI dollar for my meal...hhehe....and other time will try to find some more profitable job to do.  hehee.....new life, New experience in a New place...
GOD bless me very well for giving me the chance to experience and learn new thing here.

1st day of class

Finally start my first day of class in UVic, and the 1st class I attend is teach by Prof.Carmen Galang on Management of Employment Relationship. This is a totally new thing and new field for me to explore, but I found very interesting to be in the class.
The way of they conduct the class is a totally different way from how we did in Malaysia. Thing that need to be done before coming to class is given on a web, where we need to go and check for all the detail about the course, include the text book and exercise. They dun really teach in the lecturer hall, but they ask u about the question regarding the chapter in text book that alrd assign you to read before coming to lecturer hall. A lot of discussion on class and QnA section. Being in the 1st day, we alrd have our group assignment and individual assignment, although i am really no idea of what is going on.
One more interesting thing is tht, every student have a board that written their name, which they have to bring it every class and put in front of them, this is for the lecturer to call them and ask them question. the lecturer hall is like the auditarium room or DK room in USM. but in a smaller size, where they only accomodate 65 ppl for a class. not too big, yet not a too small class. Being a world class Uni, they actually dividing the class to be 60% of lacal and 40% of internatoinal student included exchange student. This was really amaze me, as you can found so many foreign ppl in a class.
the 2nd class wan Introduction to Canadian business, teach by a Korean lectuere, Prof.Sang Hoon Nam. However, this class is a bit boring, but heard tht this is a A-giving class. So, i juz have to attend lor..haha...almost all student take taking this course are actually international student from all over the world.

maid in canada

hehe..I am now a maid in canada...
finally, found a job to do here, in the ocean island hostel. Doing some cleaning work, washing the toilet, sweeping and throw rubbish...all is just some easy task actually.
well, guess wht, I earn my first paid in canada. Ocean Island Dollar $28, is like a coupon, which can use only in ocean island to buy the food and other thing here. Included BEER..haha....
Although, smtime, when thinking back....why a big boss from langkawi need to come canada to do all the cleaning work, to live in a very poor life, you may felt pity for urself, but yet, when u think it in a positive way, this is how to experience the life. You work to gain smthing, and then u learn to cherish wht u hav.
and at the same time, learn to experience GOD in all the bad circumstances, tht how ppl see the works of GOD more clear than when they live in a wealthy life.

Orientation

It is out orientation day today, few of us who stay in ocean island gather on 7am this morning and move tgther to Uvic by bus. it take us about 20 min from ocean island to UVic by bus .
Its cool, when we reach there, there are a lot of people from all around the world. At first, we tot that there are only around 20 ppl, coz tht is the amount of ppl the join the exchange group in fb, but now there are abt 50 ppl from poland, French, Germany, Sweden, Spain, Mexico,Noway, Thailand,Austria, China, Japan, Korea, Singapore.....did i miss anyone??
well, what shock me is tht, there are 8 ppl from Singapore, 4 from NTU and 4 from NSU-a new Uni in singapore at orchard road. getting quite close to those chinese...haha...and also a few of fren from other country, which we have to conversate in english.....doing my best to brush up it....
during the briefing, our academic advisor, Braig ask us who can talk more than 3 language to stand up, and there are only around 5 ppl tht stand up inclide me and yann ni, and we found tht only malaysia chinese can talk so many different kind of languge included our dialect- hokkien and cantonies.
i am now truly immerse myself in an environment of cultural diversity. and learn a lot from experience of other in their country. exchange of our different cultural though on food, and some view and value, is quite an interesting thing.
after the orientation, we having our lunch at Ric's Grill, is quite a class restaurant, serving western and italian food. I had a steak Sirloin, i order medium but it come as almost well done...but still taste good for me..Braig was sit on my table, and we share a lot ....
we went to the muzeum visit afer our lunch, and it is free for today....it usually cost CAD$19.....and this muzeum is really worth for the price.... lot of thing to c inside, and it is big....we can c how canade develop in the last time...and how the canadian do their mining, lumber, and other.....

Do you ever try to drink a water from the pipe in Malaysia??
here, there are something new, the pipe water is actually their drinking water. The water treatment in Canada is very good, and the water from pipe is really really clean, they just drink the water from the pipe all the place. Some one told me water of Canada was one of the most clean water in the world. izit true??
and now, I know, why we can see some of the signboard in Malaysia which written," this is not a drinking water", you can found this especially at tourism place....funny isnt it?

Yanni ni told me, most of the develop country is like tht...well...i not sure about tht....probably...haha...
